What personal information do we process about you

We collect and use relevant information about you to provide you with insurance coverage or coverage that benefits you and to comply with our legal obligations and the obligations of others in the insurance chain.

This information includes information such as your name, address, and contact details, as well as any other information we collect about you in connection with the insurance coverage or insurance coverage you claim. This information may include special categories of personal data, such as information about your health and any criminal convictions you may have.

Why we collect your personal data and the legal basis for processing

We collect and use your personal information to provide you with insurance coverage. The legal basis is the fulfilment of the contract with you as a data subject and the fulfilment of legal obligations, including insurance and tax obligations.
‍
For processing sensitive personal health data, the general legal basis is consent, unless there is a local legal right that serves as a legal basis.
‍
For the processing of children's personal data, the legal basis is consent given or approved by the person with parental responsibility for the child.
‍
Finally, we may also process your personal data to prevent and detect fraud, using a legitimate interest as the legal basis.

Who we share your personal information with

The way insurance works means that your data may be shared and used by several third parties in the insurance sector (within and outside the European Economic Area - EEA). For example, insurers, insurance agents or insurance brokers, reinsurers, claims adjusters, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, law enforcement agencies, fraud and crime prevention and detection agencies, and compulsory insurance databases. We only share your personal data in connection with the insurance coverage provided and to the extent necessary or permitted by law.
‍
From time to time, it may be necessary for us to share your personal information with third parties outside the EEA and we will always take steps to ensure that any international transfer of data is carefully managed to protect your rights and interests:

  • We only transfer your personal data to countries that are recognized to offer an adequate level of legal protection, or when we can be sure that alternative arrangements have been put in place to protect your data protection rights.
  • Transfers to service providers and other third parties are always protected by contractual obligations and, where applicable, further assurances.
  • Any requests for information we receive from law enforcement or regulatory agencies are carefully reviewed before any personal information is shared.

How long do we keep your data

We do not keep your personal data longer than is necessary to offer brokered insurance or to meet our legal or regulatory requirements.
‍
We will securely delete or destroy your personal information if there is no valid business reason to keep your information. In exceptional cases, we may keep your personal data longer if we believe that a lawsuit is imminent, if there are complaints, or if there is another valid business reason why the data is needed in the future.

Information about other people that you provide to us

If you provide us (or your insurance agent or insurance broker) with information about other people, you must ensure that this privacy notice is shared with those people.

Complaints, contacting us and the regulatory authority, and your rights

If you would like to know how we use your information or would like to see a copy of our full privacy policy, please contact LloydsEurope.DataProtection@lloyds.com or visit the privacy policy on the website www.lloydseurope.com. You can find all the details there.
‍
You have the following rights with respect to the information we hold about you:
Right to information, right to correction, right to delete, right to restrict processing, right to data portability, right to object, right to withdraw consent.
‍
If you want to exercise your rights, you must contact the insurance agent or insurance broker who arranged your insurance:
‍
Baobab Insurance GmbH
Jägerstraße 27, 10117 Berlin, Germany
email: contact@baobab.io
‍
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority, but we recommend that you contact us beforehand.

Consent

For the processing of health-related or genetic personal data and for the processing of personal data of children under 16 years of age in connection with insurance coverage, the insurance agent or insurance broker who arranged the contract will ask you for your consent using the data protection consent form, except in countries where there is local legal law to process sensitive personal health data in connection with an insurance policy .
‍
The processing of children's personal data is lawful when consent is given or approved by the person with parental responsibility for the child.
‍
Member States may provide for a lower age for these purposes, provided that that age is not less than 13 years.
‍
You are free to give us your consent, but if you do not give or withdraw your consent, it may affect our ability to provide the insurance coverage you claim and prevent us from providing you with insurance coverage or processing your claims.
